Research Fellow, Intellectual Property, Stanford Law School

Description Professor Mark Lemley and Professor Lisa Ouellette are looking for a research fellow with expertise in qualitative or quantitative empirical studies to help with empirical projects related to intellectual property. There will be opportunities to work closely with professors on academic projects and possibly to co-author papers. The research fellow will have the opportunity to enhance their knowledge of IP Law.

As a full-time Stanford University employee, the fellow will receive a competitive salary and benefits package, including full medical and dental insurance, access to campus athletic and academic facilities, paid vacation time, professional development funds, and the capacity to audit Stanford courses and attend on-campus lectures and seminars free of charge.

COMMITMENT

The fellowship is a full-time position and will last one year, with an option to renew for up to 3 years (based on performance and mutual agreement of the professors and the fellow). The Research Fellow will be expected to begin employment in summer 2016.

This position is contingent on funding that Stanford Law School will seek. The fellow is not responsible for finding his/her own funding.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Collecting, managing and structuring datasets
• Designing and implementing surveys and interviews
• Running empirical analyses

QUALIFICATIONS

• Graduate-level training in empirical social sciences, including but not limited to economics or statistics
• Substantial experience collecting data sets (including through data scraping), running regressions, and/or designing and implementing surveys and interviews
• Must have a strong interest in working on IP topics; knowledge of intellectual property law is desirable, but not required
• Excellent academic credentials and intellectual creativity
• Eagerness to take initiative and solve problems
• Outstanding time-management skills and ability to work effectively with minimal supervision
• Exceptional research and analytical writing skills
